The Punjab Government has taken a significant step to address a shortage of teaching staff by announcing the recruitment of 30,000 visiting teachers for schools in the first phase.

The School Education Department in the Province of grappling with the shortage of 115,000 teachers. The last major recruitment of School Teachers occurs in 2018 under the PML-N Government.

During the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf tenure , approximately 400 to 500 appointments were made, primarily in two districts Murree and Mianwali.

The PTI Government introduced a hiring process similar to that of the PUNJAB PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (PPSC).

The PTI Government also introduced COLLEGE TEACHING INTERNS (CTIs) to fill the vacancies in Colleges and the current administration was also advised to continue this initiative to address the shortage. Recent graduates were eligible to apply for CTI positions , receiving a monthly salary RS 25,000.

According to SED sources , the current Govt. is considering hiring 30,000 School Teachers on a visiting bases. They will be paid based on the number of Lecture delivered.

The government plans to provide additional funding to school boards to cover the salaries of new teachers. In addition, councils are responsible for providing funds to cover other school expenses.

Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) General Secretary Rana Liaquat urged the government to start permanent recruitment of teachers in the school department to meet the shortage of teachers.

In his opinion, the only viable solution to the shortage of teachers is to hire permanent teachers. The Secretary General of PTU expressed concern over the problems arising from the use of the services of new teachers in schools.
