Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a plan to establish a school for transgender children at the divisional level in the province.
In a meeting held in Lahore today to review school education reforms, Punjab ordered the formation of Punjab Standard Mathematics Examination Board and Inspectorate of Schools.
During the session, he examined in detail the proposal to bring all the affairs of education under one governing body.
The proposed department will oversee all aspects of Punjab’s education system, including improving school curricula, curriculum development, assessment and ensuring learning outcomes.
He emphasized the importance of character development programs in public schools. Apart from this, CM Punjab also said that special education should be provided in one government school in each district.
In the meeting, Maryam Nawaz expressed her disapproval of the delay in delivery of books to schools. Education officials say 41% of the Textbooks have been delivered, with the remainder expected to be delivered by May.
Also, textbooks for the next academic year are expected to arrive by February.
