The UAE Government has announced the official holidays for private sector employees across the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2024.

The break will begin on Monday, April 8 and last till 3 Shawaal . As per the Islamic Calendar, Ramadan Last 29 or 30 days, depending on when the moon is sighted. Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on 1st Shawwal.

If Ramadan lasts 30 days: the Eid holiday lasts from Monday April 8 (29 Ramadan) to Friday April 12 (3 Shawwal). If you consider the Saturday and Sunday weekend before and after the break, you get a total of nine days off. So the break will be from Saturday April 6 to Sunday April 14.

If Ramadan lasts 29 days: In that case, residents will have six days off, including weekends. The Eid break lasts from Monday 8 April (29 Ramadan) to Thursday 11 April. If you include the Saturday-Sunday weekend before the break, that’s a total of six days off. So the break will be from Saturday April 6 to Thursday April 11.

Earlier, the UAE government announced that federal government employees will enjoy a nine-day break to celebrate Eid. Those in Sharjah, however, will enjoy 10 days off, while public sector employees in the emirate will have three-day weekends.

Preparations for the religious holiday have already begun among the residents. From glamorous outfits to food preparation, the holiday craze is slowly hitting the country.
