After a brief stint under Shaheen Afridi’s leadership, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the re-appointment of BABAR AZAM as the captain of Pakistan’s white ball cricket team.

Babar, who previously led the team in all formats till the 2023 World Cup, will resume his role ahead of the crucial 2024 World T20 campaign.

The decision was taken after Pakistan’s 4-1 series lost against New Zealand under the captaincy of Shaheen Afridi.

With Babar in charge, the PCB is looking to revive the team’s performance and strategy, especially in the series against New Zealand scheduled for April 2024.

Babar’s leadership was temporarily transferred after the 2023 World Cup in India, where Pakistan faced an early exit. Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi was appointed as the T20 captain, while Shan Masood took over the Test captaincy. ODI captain remains unknown.

The decision to reinstate Babar Azam as captain has created mixed reactions in the cricket community. While one side argued that Babar was vindicated after being removed from the captaincy, others were not happy that he was handed the captaincy again after four years of service.
