The UAE Government announced a one-week holiday for its public sector employees on Sunday.

From Monday, April 8, Federal Government employees will be able to enjoy the party until Sunday, April 14. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, April 15.

As Saturday and Sunday are official weekends in the UAE, federal government employees have nine days off to celebrate Eid ul Fitr , which marks the end of the month-long fasting period.

No matter how the moon appears, the official festival will begin on April 8. According to the Islamic calendar, Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on when the Moon is visible. Hari Raya Aidilfitri is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the month after Ramadan.

As Ramadan draws to a close, excitement is building across the UAE as citizens prepare to celebrate the longest holiday of the year.
